Construction of a 104,000 SF facility with a $28.2 million budget
BDR provided project management services throughout the design and construction phases of GCSU’s $28.2M Wellness and Recreation Center. The Wellness and Recreation Center was developed on 1.9 acres on the West Campus of Georgia College. The 3-story facility houses a:
• Gymnasium
• Multipurpose Court
• Natatorium with Competition Pool
• Climbing Wall
• Classroom Space
• Administration Space
• Student Health Center
• Counseling Center
• Primary Care Clinic
In addition to developing this LEED Silver certified facility, the BDR team completed the management and oversight of a new shuttle hub and parking area funded through savings in the project budget.
The recreation center achieved the goals of the university’s Campus Wellness Action Plan by increasing participation and enhancing the campus culture. The new facility attracts more than 1,500 students on a daily basis and supports more than 250 intramural teams that are active throughout the year.
Our team achieved a 5.4% savings of $1,524,860 to allow for additional scope of an additional parking lot and transportation hub with a bus shelter and drop-off area.
