Case Study: K-12 Education

Atlanta Girls’ School

Atlanta, GA
Development of a master plan and implementation of phase 1 projects with a $2 Million budget

BDR was engaged to develop a strategic campus master plan for Atlanta Girls’ School (AGS) as a roadmap for the next 20 years. The team began by listening, understanding the mission and vision of the executive leadership team, then facilitated brainstorming sessions with staff, parents, and students. After compiling feedback, BDR assessed the current status of the existing buildings and overall campus along with industry consultants, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and building envelope experts. Final steps were delivery and presentation to the board of directors a campus strategic campus master plan, floor plans, photos, imagery and most importantly, a financial document for each phase of the project. The plan also included interim phases tying directly with growth projections, staffing requirements, and annual cash flow allowances, meeting all stakeholder’s and executive staff’s current and future needs. The plan was met with acceptance and the school engaged BDR to implement the construction outlined in the first master plan phase.
