Case Study: Research

Georgia Department of Agricultural, Regulatory Laboratory

Forest Park, GA

This project delivers a new 45,000-square-foot regulatory laboratories facility for the Georgia Department of Agriculture at the Atlanta State Farmers Market in Forest Park, Georgia. With a $53 million program budget, the facility consolidates critical regulatory and testing functions to include BSL-2 laboratory spaces to support four key research programs into a modern, purpose-built environment. The project includes demolition of an existing on-site building to accommodate the new facility.

The program includes administrative offices, the Markets Division, and BSL-2 laboratory spaces supporting dairy, food safety, pesticide, and cannabis and hemp testing. Designed to meet current regulatory and biosafety standards, the facility enhances Georgia’s capacity for food safety, agricultural compliance, and consumer protection. Substantial completion is scheduled for August 2028.
