BDR served as project manager for a two-story, 54,000 SF wellness center located in the Pinewood Forest community. This innovative facility was designed to create a culture of health and wellness, support the healthy lifestyle goals of the community, and act as a bridge between medical care and wellness. “Mobility is medicine” was the guiding principle for providing preventive medicine solutions.
Features of the wellness center include:
• 18,000 square feet of fitness space
• A six-lane lap pool and therapy pool
• Multiple fitness studios
• An active gaming component
• An exercise spin room
Another pinnacle feature is the Sports Training program, offering specific sports training for athletes from youth to the professional level. A giant slide sits next to the stadium stairs. The facility’s fitness space has floor to ceiling windows, connecting with a central park, an open-air elevated exercise platform, activity lawns, and more than 15 miles of integrated trail and path systems that meander throughout the community and nature preserve areas.
As a nod to its natural surroundings, the building incorporates tongue and groove wood decking to reduce moisture, solar shading screens to reduce heat gain, and environmentally friendly materials to promote the sustainability of this facility.
