Case Study: K-12 Education

Woodward Academy, Woodruff Hall

Atlanta, GA
Construction of a 130,000 SF classroom building and supporting projects with a $32 Million budget

BDR was the program manager who oversaw the entire building process for Woodward Academy’s single largest building on campus which included demolition, enabling work management, and design/construction of the new building.

Before demolition could occur, BDR managed the new construction of cottages on campus to function as supplemental transition spaces for the students between the two separate buildings on campus. The team successfully fast-tracked the schedule from six months to three months to displace a total of 900 student learning spaces.

After the existing Brewster McKay and West Halls were removed, the new, 130,000 SF building was constructed to house the English, History, and Foreign Language departments, as well as the Upper School Administration.

The team delivered a state-of-the-art, LEED Gold learning center while negotiating over $3 million out of the initial GMP proposal without affecting scope or quality.
