Emory Decatur Hospital Behavioral Health Renovation and Expansion
Project Impact:
• 30,000 square-foot renovation
• 22M facility
• 32 new inpatient beds
• 2 specialized outpatient clinics
Since 2019, BDR has proudly collaborated with Emory Decatur Hospital on a series of transformative renovations. We are especially proud of the recently completed state-of-the-art Behavioral Health renovation and expansion project.
The ambitious three-year planning, design, and construction endeavor has resulted in a 30,000-square-foot, $22M facility dedicated to both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services,. This newly renovated space now houses 32 inpatient beds and two specialized outpatient clinics: Neuromodulation and a Transitions program. These additions are designed to provide comprehensive support to patients at different stages of their recovery journey.
The inpatient department features cutting-edge anti-ligature and tamper-resistant technologies, ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients. The focus on safety extends to an entirely new ducted HVAC system, electrical upgrades, and elevator modernization, all contributing to an enhanced overall experience for both patients and staff.
A key feature of the renovation is the incorporation of new windows, which not only allow ample natural light to flood the spaces but also ensure patient privacy. The design includes dedicated group therapy areas tailored to various levels of activity, from quiet, respite spaces to more dynamic group therapy environments. These areas are meticulously designed to cater to the diverse needs of patients, fostering a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere.
The Neuromodulation clinic is equipped with specialized treatment rooms, pre- and post-operative areas, and clinical support spaces. Meanwhile, the Transitions program offers both group and individual therapy rooms, aimed at helping patients successfully transition from inpatient treatment to outpatient care, bridging crucial gaps in their recovery process.
Throughout the construction phase, BDR maintained seamless operations by ensuring constant communication with clinical teams and prioritizing patient care above all else. This approach ensured that the hospital’s services continued to run smoothly without disruption. The phased project approach, leadership support, and trade partner buy-in allowed access to continuous patient treatment for the Atlanta community.
The new facility stands as a testament to Emory Decatur Hospital’s commitment to providing exceptional care and support to its patients, and BDR is honored to have played a role in this transformative project. BDR remains dedicated to continuing its partnership with Emory Decatur Hospital and contributing to the ongoing improvement of healthcare facilities in our community.
